The wartime chief of the famed Task Force 58 which played havoc with the Japanese died in his sleep. He was admitted to hospital after suffering a heart attack on his 60th birthday last Sunday.

Lisbon, Feb. 3. The Air France Dakota which crashed near Lisbon on Saturday with the loss at 15 lives, made, a ra- dio call to Lisbon airport only 15 minutes before it crashed but the airport radio was unable to reply because of a power failure.

airport radio operators' act is sold to have gone dead for about five minutes.
Earlier reports said the Daliota's radio was believed to have broken down completely five mniutes before the plane was due to land.
