WEEK-END SOFTBALL was confined to Sunday, two games being played at the Kowloon Football Club. In the opener, Canuckettes made short work of the Cardinals, going home with a 12-8 victory, and in the nightcap, the Madcaps to-day's racing at Macao: nosed out the Mohawks 4-3 in a fine and thrilling tussle, which was only decided in the eighth inning.
Cardinals jumped into a 4-1|
lead after two leases of the
plate, but it was in the third U.S.S. Mindanao
stanza that the Canuckettes*
heavy battery opened fire and forced six trips across the plat- ter.

It was not quite sufficient to win the game, and the Canadiart girls mother made matters certain with four-run barrage in the left the Cardinals without a hope.
These are not the good old days of carly softbull when it was nothing surprising to ser double figures scored in one inning, and the Cardinals were left without a hope.

Defence Fails In Second Half
(By “SCRAMBLER")
The heroic efforts of Bright, Thomas, Fraser and Blackburn were unavailing against the wiles of Lee Wai-tong, Lau Chung-sang and Chau Man- chi yesterday, when the Association's Governor's Cup team of last season were defeated by the South China Touring team at Caroline Hill by five goals, to nil in a Charity game.
The absence of Bankier in goal had much to do with their downfall for Nix, his deputy, was unable to settle Unplaced (17.40 each) Nos. 370, 182, 23, down to his post, and with Hendy playing in an un- accustomed position, the Association's 'team were some- what handicapped. But despite these defects, they had much of the play at one period, but lack of team work nullified all their efforts.
