Macao Racing Resumes With Sunday's September Meeting
Special Sweep On Governor's Cup:
First Prize Over $10,000
Portuguese Jockeys In Making
AFTER AN ELAPSE of a few months the Macao Jockey Club will resumé racing on Sunday and very satisfactory entrios have been received for their September meeting at Areia Prota.
The most important evant on the programme of six races is the Governor's Cup presented by the Macao Governor and the cup is to be won twice in succession by a "D" class China pony or ponica, the bone fide property of the same owner or
owners.
My best three are Black Diamond,
It is interesting to recall that six furlonga and it looks very the last Governor's Cup. (don-open. ated by the late Dr A. T. de Sousa Barbosa) won outright was captured by Meadow Eve belonging to Mr Liang Hau- yuen, the Chinese senator of the Macao Legislative Council.
However, the new trophy, kindly presented by His Excellency Com- mander G. M. Teixeira, has attracted no less than 14 dominations and it may please the Maçao Governor to know that a good field will face the stort,
Though class does not predominale among the entry, we have a lew, top notchers and the event has a double attraction owing to a special dollar cash sweep being conducted.
It is learned thai the sale is now approaching the 25,000 mark and this should give the lucky drawer of the first peny a prito of over $10,000.
Coming Jockey
LL portamen know that J. No-
player, but one would hardly believe that in a little over a year the 3- cao Interporter has piloted six pontes to victory.
A losco da Silva is a fue hockey
As a result of his fine achieve- ments in the saddle, a few Portu guese youths have decided to trail him and it is reliably learned that half a dozen novices residing in Ma- cab will be seen in action on Sun- day.
It is to be hoped that the Port guese Colony will soon be able tw provide their own jockeys and I see
no reason for the fullure.

Rising Star, winner of the Hobart Handicap at the June meeting, has been well looked after and the inar- gin of many lengths win has cost the **** pony 10 lb. penalty.
Strong opposition is sure to come
from Buckfastleigh, and the bay in China ponies will terminate the my estimation should win.
Adelaide Handicap Deserving More Support THE Adelaide Handicap for has the same number of entries and the trip is a short run over five furlongs.
“D" class Australian ponies
In view of the fact that this class of racers is not provided with race at Happy Valley until at the Double Tenth mee), it" à a ply

Challenge From Rose-Queen
MR S. W. LEE is making a strong bid to secure the first log of the Governor's Cup and the nominator has Eve of Hunt- ing, Just I Time, Smiling Time, This Time and West Lake to fight the issue out.

In my opinion Just In Time is not o mlier and I am inclined to believe that Smiling Time and This Time are not yet ready.
Royal Wedding Eve will be racing under Mr J. M. Rocha's colours in- slend of Mr Bill Stanton's. The mare does not appear to be in the same form as when she ran away with the Hunter's Cup in Fanling on March 23.
Formidable
JOSE-QUEEN is too well known to require any introduction, but nobody can deny the fact that the mare has a reputation of lelling her supporters down without renson.
She has never made h trip to the Portuguese

I am not trying to discount Evel of Hunting's chances, but Mr Lee's candidate will have to be at tip- top condition to stave off the chal- lenge of Rose Queen. There is no Baw in the allotment of weights, for both have been handicapped on the strength of their last running.
A Good Thing
OVELY STAR has been whispered R good thing, but the bay in my eatlination is attempting out of his distance and I doubt he will get a place.
Sunlight View has been kindly treated by the weight adjuster with the lowest Impost and the maro is worth $5 each waykh ni After an absence of ten months Clowner lins returned to the course and the brown le looking well. He is not yet ready and I doubt if, Mr Fielden's candidate will make the
