Chung Hwa Battered And Humbled
Counter-balancing yet another dreary week- end baseball programmo, whon head-on winds from the north preceded a downpour of torrential rains to completely wash out the Sabbath tilt, the comoback hurling dished in by the brilliant Ski Powlawski, proved a boomerang tossed in the right direction, for ball fans at the Chatham Road park.
The high-powered "Skier" led Mindanao's terrific M to the very doors of Pennantville for the second year in succession, as the champions smashed through to a colossal 14-1 triumph over grandpa Leung's weak-willow- ed Chung Hwa Maroons.
WITH a re-organised infleld
playing stendy ball, and}| with the recently signed Mac MacKenzie making his bebut how before local ball fans in the outfield, the master speedballer bore down with all tho, con- fidence in the world.
Uning a stendy fast ball with a slight change of pace, Hongkong's leading twirler had the Chung Ha Maroons virtually eating out of his lunds as he set the Chinese favourites down with three measly bingtes and willfed ten.
Setting off a few sparks in the opening stanza which had the gas- house mob warmed up at the outset, the Terrific M threatened to open up with the pressure by filling the bases
