Anglo-Portuguese Amity Note of Weekend Visit
The visit to Hongkong during the week-end of His Excellency the Governor of Macao; Commander Gabriel Mauricio Teixeira, and Madame Teixeira, though brief, was timely and welcome, and provided opportunlly at the social functions arranged in their honour, to reaffirm not only the close ties that exist between the Governments of Hongkong and Macao but also the traditional friendship and affinity of Britain and Portugal.
Following the official reception accorded the guests at Queen's Pier on their arrival on Friday, an official dinner was given in their honour at Government House on Friday night. On Saturday they were the guests of Sir Atholl and Lady MacGregor and Mr S. T. Williamson, at lunch at the racecourse, where they took an active interest in the sport, and attended a special reception at the Club Lusitano in the evening.
