daughter of the late Major and Mrs B. Pratt, of London. Her illusion vell was held in place by head-pieces of orange blossoms and pearls. She also wore a pearl necklace and pearl bracelot, and carried a bouquet of urum lilies.

Dr Paul Monroe,

aged professor of education of the Teachers' College, Columbia University, has arrived in Hongkong to attend the annual con- ference of the. Board of Trustees of the China Foundation for the Promo- ilon of Education and Culture, of which he is a member.

Dr Monroe revealed on Tuesday that there were about 20 Chinese college graduates being trained in three of the United States largest automobile factories, Ford, General Motor and Chrysler plants, in auto- motive engineering under the spon- sorship of the China Foundation.
