Menzies In Belfast
Essence Of Living BELFAST, Apr. 3 (Reuter).-De- claring that "the tyranny of a man over Italian and German minds is one of the saddest things, in history," Mr It. G. Menzies, the Prime Minister of Australia, in a speech here, gave as an instance Libya which he described as "one of the most miserable and worthless desert countries any man ever laid eyes on."
The Australians, who had cleared It, hut! millions of acres of desert of their own without wanting more. What was at stake, he added, was the real essence of living without which they would not core to live at all.
The essential genius of the British Empire could never be translated into terms of black and white," he added.
