Judge Tells Bigamist To Return To Wife Or Take Nine Months
JOSEPH SAMUEL DOUGLAS BELL, 37-year-old telephonist, who pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey recently, to bigamously marrying Miss Cissie Davies, was bound over on condition that he went back to his wife.
This' was after Mrs Bell had told the judge: "I married him for better or worse and I am willing to start again."
To Bell the Common Sergeant (Mr Cecil Whiteley, K.C.)} said: "You either become a husband and father again and do your duty, or if you don't you will come back here and get nine months. If you cannot face it, then take your nine months like a man."
