Air Marshal Barratt Air Marshal Sir Arthur Barratt, who was in command of the R.A.F, in France prior to and during the Battle of France, has been appointed Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of
his new Command.
Simultaneously wide changes are announced in the R.A.F. Higher Com- mand.
Alr Vice-Marshal W. S. Douglas is appointed Air Officer Commanding- In-Chiet of the Fighter Command in place of Air Chief Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding from a date in the acar future. Air Vice-Marshal Douglas is promoted to Air Marshal (Tempor- ary) on his appointment.
Alr Chief Marshal Sir Hugh Dowding at the special request of the Minister for Alrernit Production, is being seconded to the latter's depart- ment for special duty in the United States.
