Kwong Wah Fortunate To Draw England Deservedly Beat

Navy Forwards Fail At Critical | A TUSSLE IN NAVY'S GOAL-MOUTH

Moments: Chinese Defence Holds Out

(By "Scramblor")

FIELDING an all Chinose team for the first time this season, Kwong Wah were decidedly for- tunate to snatch a point from the Royal Navy yos- terday when they mot at Causeway Bay in their First Division football game, sharing eight goals. Though the standard of play servod up by both teams was not up to First Division standard, nevertheless, the game was not without its ex- citement.

The slippery state of the ground and ball were not conducive to good football, and the Navy were able to adapt themselves to the conditions more easily than the. Kwong Wah. The bright spots in the game were the fine display given by Le Page and Phippens on the Navy's right flank, and Cheuk Shek-kam and Wong King-chung on Kwong Wah's left flank. Danger from either team in- variable came from these sources.

HOW TEAMS FARED

The Navy were unlucky not to have got away with the two points, for during the greater part of the second half they were on the offensive and had

Kowloon the Kwong Wah penned in their South Chino own half. Hendy was a great chub trier and aided and abetted Le Sing Tao

Navy Page and Phippens to a great extent in their fine display, while Maughan and Bourne were only mediocre.

Iind the Navy forwards moved the bail about more frequently instead of trying to take it up to the feet of their opponents, more goals would have been produced.

India 25-13 In Last Bowls Game Of Year

PROVING a better team man to man, England triumphed over India 25-13 in the final of the Gutierrez International Lawn Bowls Competition at the Kowloon Football Club yesterday. Early rains made the green slightly heavy, but it could hardly be said to have affected the play.

...Keenest duel was between the. skips, U. M. Omar and A. J. Hall. It was very even, the deciding factor being the excellent work of the front men for England. G. G. H. Sherriff, too, was steady and did much to nullify the work of K. M. Omar for U. M. Omar.
