A lighter of the Hongkong and Kowloon Wharf and Go down Company was gutted this morning when a cargo of chlo ride of potash which was aboard ignited and exploded.

Chemicals Explode
At first coolles working aboard the lighter attempted to put out the fames, but within a few minutes the chemicals begen to explode and there was a hasty scramble ashore.
