Prospects Of Area Aquatic Championships
Titles Should Change Hands
THE RAPID RISE of Army aquatic "stars" has resulted in an intense interest in the Annual Inter-Unit Swimming Champion- ships this year, and prospects of titles chang- ing hands are held bright among Army critics. This gala of galas is being held in the Army bath on September 18 and 19.
It is interesting to note how military swimmers have sprung into the limelight, and mostly among the bigger Units, there is a fair complement who need watching.
The popular belief held by the Middlesex Regiment, that they will add yet a few more trophies to their al rendy lavish display, is backed by a team that have, undor the expert eye of Mr. E. W. Railton, of the Euro- pean Y.M.O.A., been train- Ing daily.
Among the various contenders will be, not wily new faces, but new talent. Diving will, or mă- ways, be of great interest-more

For The Cricket League
Meeting On Sept. 16
(By "Tinker") :
WITH . the, year's expenseŁ amounting to less than $13, the balance sheet of the Hong. | kong Cricket League, which will be submitted for approval at the annual general meeting on September 16, shows credit balance of $172, of which $105 was brought for- ward from last year.
The agenda for the meeting makes no specific mention of the League, but it will doubting be included under "Any Other Bus!- ness" for more than ever, the position of the League needs de- aning. Whether to hold the com- petition will be the first point, whether to conduct it on the same to lines as last year or whether introduce the home-and-nway sys- tem of matches should be the Recond, and lastly would be the arrangement of fixtures.
The second and third points are, of course, dependent on the altitude to wards the first.
Though war work in many ways i likely to interfere with the pro- gress of any League iis year, the hoking of the tournament is of yet some considerable interest to a num- ber of the Clubs, and because of this efforts should be made to vorry it on as usual.
