More Free Frenchmen

Rally To The Allies Support For De Gaulle

LONDON, Aug, 28 (Reuter).—The decision of the Governor and Military Commander of Chad to rally to General de Gaulle's standard is a heartening sign and has been greeted with enthusiasm by all free Frenchmen who are continuing to fight against Nazism, writes "Reater's" diplomatic correspondent.

The moral courage of those who made this decision is appre- ciated by all and will inspire those Frenchmen who still value freedom.

From the military point of view, the decision makes little change in the situation.

In the heart of Afrien, bounded by Qubangi, Cameroons and Neger on the south and west, and the Sudan on the cast, it

Lost Nuisance Value

But the decision to continue to fight will prevent any possible nulsarice value which the Axis might acquire by infiltration into the Colony and attempting to cause trouble in the Sudan.

The territory's native population has been increased in recent years by the influx of Senussi fleeing from the Italian terror in Libya.

Cone of Searchlights SPECIAL TO THE **TELEGRAPH” LONDON, Aug. 28 (UP)—The air raid alarm was sounded again at 9 p.m. a few minutes before enemy ralders passed over the heart of the city.

The searchlights, forming a giant cone which turned night into day, provided an amazing spectacle.
