CHUNG SING PROTEST
Error Of
Judges' Award In Fifty Yards Race Disputed: Error Hand Timing
(By "Ripple")
MAIN TOPIC of conversation among swim. mors over the week-end, apparently, has been the action of the Chung Sing Swimming Club in walk- ing out of the quadrangular gala at the European Y.M.C.A. on Saturday night. They had a grouse -strong and legitimate—there is little question of that, but what has come in for strong criticism was their method of expressing their dissatisfac- tion,
If there should be anyone yet unaware of the reason for the incident, I would recount that in the 50 yards free-style D. H. Taylor (V.R.C.) and Ng Taun-man (Chung Sing) were adjudged to have dead-heated in '25 seconds flat. Chung Sing disputed the decision, but un- der the methods used to obtain the result there was no likelihood of the judges changing their opinions, and Chung Sing were, perforce, without satisfaction.
It was anticipated that
