CRICKET PROBLEM OF 1940/41
Volunteer League May Stumble Over Question Of Grounds

ON SEPTEMBER 1, in most Clubs, cricket natsi go up for the first time of a now season, except that this year there are indications that a League will not be possible. This, however, does not de- tract from the prospects, for with most men now more closely affiliated to Volunteer Units than to Clubs, inter-Unit matches should be a fairly fro- quent feature.
The prospects of a Volunteer League, as suggested by a contemporary some weeks ago, is a more ambitious scheme, and is one that, with the co-operation of Clubs, should be quite workable and very enjoyable.
But to me there appear one)
or two flies in the ointment.
