RHODESIA'S NEW ISSUE
A SET of colourful pictorial
stamps has recently been issued by Southern Rhodesia, in honour of the fiftieth-an- niversary of the British South Africa Company.
The 14d. black and brown stamp of the New Issue shows a full- face portrait of Ceell John Rhodes, founder and builder of Rhodesia.
The 6d, green and brown, pic- tures
status of St Charles Coghland, Southern Rhodesia's Arst premler, in 1923.
The ish green and blue, ple tures views of Lobengula's Krant and the Government House at Salisbury, with portraits of Queen Victorin and King George VI m oval frames above.
The d. green and purple, shows the coat of arms with n warrior In native costume at the left and a bugler at the right; the carmine and bluish gray, shows the hoisting of the flag at Fort Salisbury in 1890, and in the side
panela are shown native spears and shields;

Russia-Two sets of stamps have been released recently. One set is in honour of Prof. K. A Timiryazev, professor of agricul ture and biological sciences and n famous naturalist. The 10k. value shows the Agricultural Academy at Moscow and a picture of the naturalist at the left; the 15k.

In the laboratory of the Moscow Univer- sity; the 10k. shows a late portrait of the professor with a microscope at the left, the 60k, pictures the Timiryazev monument in Moscow. The second set honours Vladimir Mayakovsky, the poet. The 15k. and 30k. shows a full face, portrait of the poet, and the 60k. and 80k. shows a profile portrait of him wearing a cup. On each stamp there also appear several lines of verse.
