(By "Birdio").

RICHARD BURTON: (Saló), the Open Cham- pion, won the "Daily Mail" £500 war-time profes sional golf tournament with a record score of 280 -8 under four's--at Sundridge Park, Bromley, on June 14, and secured first prize of £100. The tournament, which was in aid of the British Red Cross War Fund, netted about £300.

Henry Cotton, former Open Champion, and last year's winner of this same tournament, was second with 281.: This win is, perhaps, slight compensation to Burton for his unlucky financial period as champion.
