Take the excellent example of 13-year-old Ching Man-huen, who awam the 440 yards in last Saturday's gain at the European Y.M.C.A..pool. Had May tried, he could have assuredly beateri young Ching by a much greater margin, but that does not minimise the splendid effort of Ching, who swam this race for the first time. He wishes to bo a sprinter, and seldom has he swum over 200 yards, the dis- tance prescribed by Law for the sprinters.
Chan Kwok-kwan, another young- ster, also has not awum this distance before, Beyond his daily 200 yards to give him stamina for the sprints, he has never awum in practice, least at uti in a race, longer distances. He is also to be commended on splendid performance.

Eastern was the faster team, but were overshadowed in positioning, for which Chung Sing excelled.
Eastern attacked within the first few minutes, but Che Chok-wan -Unsuccessful. The ball was quickly transferred to the Eastern area by Ng Nin, who outswam Shek' Kom-pul to beat Woo Cho-kin with a clever shot bouncing the ball twice before scorlung."
Within a few seconds of their scoring Shui Hung-yul received a nice pass from Tommy Kew to equalise with a lovely backliand shot taken from several yards out. Both goals went through several close shaves without, however, affecting the score.
