Most of the men captured-and those shot-smelled soi strongly of drink that their captors believe they must have been given a lot of liquor before they set out. This was revealed re- cently by refugees arriving in England from Belgium and Holland.
Few of the parachutists escape now. Of severi men who dropped down on Blankenberghe, in Belgium, three fell into the Ben and were drowned. The remaining four were shot.
