SHANGHAI DISPUTE

Both China And Japan Peeved With Council

Shanghal, July 3. Crlilcism of the Municipal Council for refusing to recognise the Japan- cse-sponsored City Government of Greater Shanghal was voiced by a Japanese Embassy spokesman to- night. He referred to the Council's decision to hard over the Land Bureau title decds through the Ja- panese Consul-General, saying this was apparently. being done as the Council did not recognise the City Government.

In lua personal opinion, the spokes- man said, the refusal of the Council to state that the Junding over was actually to the City Government was ridiculous.

There are various other questions it has been found Impossible to solve because of this situation," he said. "Many other people Ja Shanghai also refuse to recognise that Shanghal is no longer under the actual jurisdic- tion of the Chungking authorities. The Council and many others are living in a sort of fairyland..

"Snow White and Pinnochio may be all right on tho-screen-but-not-in- real fe," he remarked-Reuter.
