Once he led a riot against an Italian invasion of Africa.
And he opposed Italy's enter. ing the war.
When he was drafted to the front he spent fewer than forty days in the trenches, and though he bears the mark of more than forty wounds, he got them in a training school, miles in the rear, when a hand grenade went off accidentally.
So George Seldes, former Rome correspondent of the "Chicago Tribune," says in a bitter, brilliant investive against Cacar" Mussolini, "Sawdust (Arthur Barker, 12s. 6d.). He seeks to strip away the myth of Mussolini as her-leader, and to tell the story of an Italian gang- ster, rising by craft and violence to run a nation-wide racket.
The author specifically charges the Tascist regime with the murder of Matteotti, the Socialist leader. That is an old charge and an ugly one. But
