EUROPEAN Y.M.C.A. Aussie Naval Reserves Beaten: G.T. May Covers 50 Yards in Fine Time

SPECTATORS who gathered at the European Y.M.C.A. in anticipation of an entertaining even- ing's programme of swimming were not dis- appointed. The "Y" gained six events to nil victory over the Australian Naval Reservos.`

First item on the programme was the 50 yards free style which G. T. May took in the excellent time of 26 secs. There was little between the swimmers in the first made a strong push off from a bad turn length, but May and gained a slight lead which he increased slowly to forge ahead, Weller touching 3 secs, behind him.

In the 25 yards back stroke, B. S. Wilson churned the waters to return the good time of 15 Bees. A matter of 2/5 sec. sepanting him from Willis.

The 75 yards medley relay race provided a great deal of exvilement. Wilson and Sub-Lt. Arthur (first off) raced neck and neck till the final few yards when a spurt put Wilson orin's length phend. Weller and P. Wilson ("Y" "B") took the water for the breast almost simultaneously closely followed by Sub-Lt. Beseler. The distance between them was kept it towards the end when Beseler drew up slightly. P. Wilson was disqunli- fed for failing to touch the end of the

hath with both hands.

A splendid 25 yards free style by G. Arsold gave "Y" victory by a few yards in the nice time at 1 min. 45 secs.

Wimbledon Championships On July 19 and 20?

HAVE FACTS BEEN MIS-STATED or are the Colony and other coast ports being kept in the dark. Last week's and previous reports stated most definitely that there would be no Wimble don tennis championships this year, and that all Open competitions were banned by the Lawn Tennis Association.

Dates for the commence- ment of this year's Wimbledon tennis championship matches have been re-arranged for July 19 and 20..

The above communication was printed in the "Manila Bulletin" dated May 24 and credited to "Reuter's".
