I have the honour to forward an application from Mr. Warren Sallas of this port for the appointment of Postmaster rendered vacant by the lamented death of Mr. Martin.

Mr. W. Sallas is an old and highly respected resident of unimpeachable character, while his knowledge of business generally, and of local affairs in particular would make him a suitable candidate.
