Or what about a sliding tax on banisters,

Then there's another thing. Couldn't it be arranged that there should be a tax on the Entertain- ment Tax. We might as well do the thing properly. Let's have a tax of ten per cent. on Entertain- ment Tax, so that if you pay $20 A year Entertainment Tax you pay $2 a year Tax Tax,

Then there's cata. A dog pays $5 for a licence to be a dog for a year.

Each cat to be allotted a cer- tain tillage or roofagio with addi- ilonal fece charged for extra areas above the standard allot- ment as fixed by the Board. Tum- rats to be grouped in zones.

Any tomcat found wandering outside its zone to be fined $25 And for the second ofence $100 and have his milk saucer broken. A third conviction will mean

the cancellation of his licence and he will then no longer bo a tomcat within the meaning of the Ordinance.

This will mean that a habitual offender deprived of the licence muy be deported for (a) loitering

And what about canaries? The owner of the bird to be classed as A landlord and to pay assessment rates on the enge,

This would be a wonderful op- portunity for the man who prepares the Bill for the next meeting of the Legislative Council to sprend himself:

"Where there are two or more perches in the one cage, auch perch or perches shall be counted as half a-cage in such cape, or cager. A swing or strings hang- ing or dependant or somehow fixed to the inside of the cape or cupes for the canary or canaries to swing on shall be regarded as or perches, except in perch or such cases"

Then there are Tortoises. They should be made to shell out!
