Gerard Green on returning from breakfast found the broken yoke lying in the Workhouse (which he is in charge of), he ordered the prisoner to put them mine which he would not do and was insubordinate with the former.

... admitted giving him a slap in the face.

As I was in the yard a few minutes after the occurrence, Guard Green was fined & 2 and cautioned that should the offence occur again he would be recommended for dismissal.

In enquiry is termed an assault on a prisoner. The prisoner complained to me of having been slapped. The Guard admitted doing so under the circumstances before stated.
