Chinese employed as peons or coolies would be exposed to great temptation, and I don't think it would be well to employ any long who could not find large security for their good behaviour. Three well-conducted Members of the Police are willing to find security to the extent of $500 each, provided they be allowed to return to the Police at the end of a month should they find the work disagreeable. There are:-
