Upon my return, I missed a jacket and a pair of trousers worth about $150. The defendant was absent then, and I never saw him till this day.

I found him in Queen's Road Strand and gave him into custody. There were about 10 of us living in the same room. I forget the day the defendant left. He was the only man left in the room when I went out.
