"passed both Houses of Parliament restricting influx of Chinese Emigrants to Queensland was transmitted by Mail yesterday.

I would recommend intending Immigrants and Agents be informed of the provisions of the proposed law.

Immediately on receipt of this information I caused to be published in the local papers the following notification.

"His Excellency Governor Pope Hennessy has this day received a telegram from His Excellency Sir Arthur Kennedy, then Governor of Queensland, announcing that a Bill has passed both Houses of the Queensland Legislature, and been transmitted to London for the consideration of Her Majesty's Government, restricting the influx of Chinese Emigrants into Queensland.

Under such circumstances, the Governor suggests that Chinese Comigrants should, for the present, avoid proceeding to Queensland.
