I regret to have to report the sudden death of Mr. J. P. Martins, late Postmaster at Shanghai. Mr Martins was an energetic and careful officer, and maintained the service at Shanghai in a high state of efficiency.
I have not yet seen His Excellency the Governor of this Colony with regard to the measures to be taken on this vacancy,
