Outplayed: Shanghai Triumph By 2-0

(By S. A. Gray, "Tolograph" Reporter with the Hongkong team).

SHANGHAI, Feb. 8 (UP)—In losing 2-0 to Shanghai, the Hongkong interport football team fared little worse than expected so far as the Hongkong supporters were concerned. Against a faster, better balanced and more methodical team, the Hongkong team appeared-in fact were- a much inferior side. Only superb defence work by Moxhum and A. V. Gosano and Strange prevented the fast- moving, punching Shanghai forwards from piling on more goal, especially in the first half, when Roboostoff and Suen Kam-suen were never allowed within shooting distance as a result of Hussain and Guy.

GAME Shanghai Beaten 8-6; Impressive Display By Hongkong Forwards

United Services Lose By 1-4: Sheehan Shines In Defence

(By "Rex")

UNITED SERVICES went down to the Chinese Amatour Athletic Federation eleven at Caroline Hill yesterday by four goals to one in a Charity match in aid of the Wounded and the B.W.O.F.

The game lacked thrills, but was interspersed with a fair amount of good, clean and constructive football given by both sides, which was the redeeming factor to what would otherwise have been a desultory game.

The changes in the Chinese line-up did not affect their game at all, but the Services changes had the effect of throwing the entire team off-balance.

The non-appear- ance of Saw occasioned a general shifting of the team- Lawton made way for Naysmith to substitute for Sheehan at left-back, who took over the pivot position from Bright who filled for Saw at inside-left.

SHANGHAI, Feb. 8 (UP),---On muddy ground, which had just been cleared of the snow which had fallen for the five days prior to the game, Hongkong, contrary to ex- pectations, beat Shanghai in the rugby interport by 8 points (a try and a goal) to 6 (two trics) at Kiaochow Park, which was a much smaller ground than the Cani- drome. The latter ground was unfit for rugger in the morning and then soccer in the afternoon.
