I have ascertained that there are at the present time 45 prisoners who could be advantageously branded and deported - of these 17 are old offenders. The whole have completed one of their sentences, and are willing to be marked and afterwards leave the Colony on the usual conditions.
There are 73 other prisoners who are to be branded & deported, of whom ... are old offenders and the others are worse characters but have not completed their sentences.
