"One Man-One Job" Policy Can Prove A Team's Undoing
(By "Rex")'
SINCE LAST WRITING on switching, I have spokon to several players of moment on the subject. From those who have failed in the advantages of the tactics, the argument was that as a result of their em- ployment team work had been ruined. But from the others I learned that when all other methods have failod, switching has invariably produced the desired effecta goal.
When carried out in too obvious a manner, defenders have found little difficulty in coping with the changes, but, they admit, when changes are introduced with suddenness and surprise, more often than not the defence is caught unprepared.
I will quote two local pivots who answered in almost identi- cal words when I asked them.!
Is there any difference in Leo Wai-tong's and Fung King- cheong's type of football, and which of the two would you prefer to have as an opponent ?" Both replied, "Lee." "Lec" they said, "plays the same type of game always. Without a feeder he isn't dangerous. Keep the ball away from him and you can be sure that no goals will come from him."
