Recreio Deservedly Beat Nomads: R. Engineers' Test On Sunday Next
THERE WERE NO WOMEN'S league gamos last Saturday, but in a friendly played at the Y.M.C.A. ground, the “Y” Ladies gained an easy victory over the C.B.A. Ladies by five goals to one. The home team included four reserves in their line-up, and had the forwards taken their chances the score would have been doubled.
In a Tournament game fast Sunday, Recreio beat the Nomads 2-0 on their home ground. On the same day the new Khalsa Sikh team was seen in action when they beat| the C.B.A. 1-0.
Mrs. Gardner and Miss B. Harker, in the "Y" attack, com- bined cleverly, and Mrs. Burnett put in some good runs on the right wing. Mrs. Strange and Mrs. Stone, as usual, shared the bulk of the "Y" defence, but Miss Stokes, as pivot, also gave A useful display; with more experience a e gives every promise of making a good half-back." Beller team work was seen in the second half than in Die first.
Playing without a goal-keeper, thei C.B.A defence had a gruelling time in the second half, and Miss Parsons, as a kicking back, saved the aldo from a heavy defeat.
However, the defence with Miss I. Woolley, MA P. Everest and Mrs, Wilmott, fought gamely Up to the Anal whistle, and many good movements by the "y" forwards wère broken up.

DRAW
Try Scored In Last Five Minutes
(By "Fly-half")
YESTERDAY EVENING on the Club ground, the Police just managed to save the day through a late try scored by Dempsey after being 3 points down until in the last five minutes.
The game was essentially one between the two hard working packs, with the ball seldom getting further back than the stand-off" halves through slow heeling and quick breaking up of the forwards.
Wheeler was outstanding in the Police pack, which did extraordin- arily well in foot rushes, and gave Thomson no time in which to get the bail out to Charter. The result be- ing that Charter had either to make a swift kick to touch or break away on his own.
Luscombe, at the base of the scrum
for Follce, was likewise embarrassed, and when he did pass out Lealle had difficulty in Aelding his wild passea. Taylor, on the Police wing, wng seldom in action, and generally found
himself crowded out, with a kick to touch his best move.
Wall was again in splendid form for Police, and dealt with every ball to the best advantage. Walkden, who also turned out at full-back for. the Club, was instrumental in holding up numerous dribbles by the Force.
POOR HANDLING
VAN LEEUWEN was in action on Club's left wing more than Lavalle. The laiter received few good passes from Taylor, whose handling was poor, although
turn received
few good passes. Reynold, of Police and opposite Van Leeuwen, although seldom seen in attack, was kept busy in keeping the bustling Van Leeuwen in check.
In the lineouts Stout did well for Club, and had more success than Dempsey, Police expert in this department. Any advantage that Stout gained was generally set-off by the good marking of the Police eight, which got round to present a quick heel,
well, but set scrums, Saller hooked but only to and that his men were shoved off the ball or else good scrumming by the heavier and hard- working Police pack prevented quick clean heel.
Burford worked hard at wing forward for Club, especially in instigating wheels.
