New Chinese

Army Ten

Million Strong

By LOUISE MORGAN

A NEW Chinese army ten millions strong-the big- gest conscript army ever raised in any country-was described to me by. Dr. Sun Fo, President of the Chinese Legislative Yuan, when he arrived in London recently.

It has been secretly assembled and trained in many different parts of the Western provinces over the past 14 or 15 months, since conscription came into force.

Most of the soldiers are young country lads, tough fighters, who will go through anything to save their country from aggres- sion.

Nobody except the Generalissimo, Chiang Kai-shek, knows the whereabouts of this mystery army or the date of the big SPOTLIGHT

offensive for which it is now be ing intensively preparel.
