GOLF HAS SEEN SEVERAL novel contests, and quite a few were played during the last great war, but the latest one has arisen out of a desire on the part of Joe Davis, world snooker champion, to raise money for the British Red Cross. He has offered to meet Henry Cotton in a series of golf and snooker matches,
All that Davis wants from Cotton is a stroke a hole, and he, in turn, offers the golfer six blacks start at snooker. Cotton is interested, and though of the opinion that no handicap at snooker could be high enough for him, is will. ing to meet Davis in both games-provided Davis gives him some lessons at snooker first!
