9" to 1"" "fursiner " ask him ask him: 1 prisoner thereupon said to a woman
the wife of 2nd prisoner, I knew the prisoner and his wife being known to me - "give that watch to Ah Ngan". She then took the watch from her jacket pocket and handed it to me. I said to her "when did you get that watch" and she replied "my husband gave it to me".
The 2nd prisoner said nothing at that time. I took both prisoners to the Central Station, and the last witness identified the watch on his property.
The 2nd prisoner said, "the 1st prisoner brought the watch to me, and I was going to send it to Sergeant Ah Ngan to tell him about it when the Sergeant came into the room." The 1st prisoner on the way to the Station asked me to forgive him at the time.
I have knowledge of the 1st prisoner, and produce previous convictions against him. See Case No. 6926, 9 November 1874, Larceny from Person. Sentenced to 3 months imprisonment and flogged. At that time the 1st prisoner gave his age as 16 years.
Case No. 4489, 16 July 1878, Larceny from Person. Sentenced to 4 months imprisonment and flogged, 24 strokes. At that time he said he was 18 years of age. See also Case at p. 339, 24 January 1876.
