LOVELY ladies to-day like to surround themselves, with the things that set off beauty and personality as well as with things that are timely. At the moment there are several trends, but what promises to be first and foremost this winter is the Victorian influence-in make-up, in hair-dos, in the new fashions with their cute little bustles and willowy waistlines, even in bed- room styles.
Gray For Outdoors

New York-Whether one is watch- ing a football game or strollers on the avenue, wherever one Bres smart crowds out-of-doors, the general tone of the picture is gray. Let's recall and recount a football crowd at Princeton recently.
Gray turned up everywhere in the stands, for sheer woolien dresses of an almost uniform-like simplicity, Kur two-place sults, for Atted coats of the spectator type. Always, how- ever, it appeared as a background colour, to set off some other brighter shade, which the wearer evidently considered too vivid for an entire costume and had satisfled herself by buying for her hat, blouse or brand- bag.
Orange Red Seen
These smali touches of colour turned the stands into a checkur- board of small, vivid squares, the largest number of which were orange red. As for us hats were concerned both mos green and Schiaparelli's heaven blue were well represented in the pictures.
