I now endeavour to examine the papers. In his report the Attorney General makes the following admissions.
"With regard to the 2nd Conviction, I do not know that if I had been sitting as Magistrate I should have convicted...
however he qualifies by saying, property, that the magistrate having heard the evidence had as good a chance of judging. He adds that the prisoner acted in a most suspicious manner, & that he has little doubt as to his guilt.
With regard to the 2nd Conviction he says, "This Conviction is I think so far somewhat doubtful"

respecting the fourth conviction Entire being.- "the latter portion of the sentence would seem to be incorrect. The Ordinance in question only empowers a finding of security for the appearance of the party charged in court at any time within "twelve months from the date of the adjudication."
In spite of these admissions, the Attorney General concludes his report by expressing his opinion that he had satisfactorily disposed of any objections I may have entertained.
