That your petitioner is now in a distressed condition, and being a stranger he cannot obtain any help to support his life. Your petitioner is therefore compelled to pray your compassion on him, for he suffers all the distress of a stranger, and the hardship of oppression. He also prays Your Honour to send police to investigate into the matter and to restore to him his property, and that the cause may be used to protect the life of a stranger and caution the wicked.

Chan - A You states: I am a trader. On the 24th of April last, I arrived in this Colony in my junk called the "Shun Kat" from Ko Chan in Fuk-Kin with a cargo of sugar 150 piculs. I sold the sugar to the Tan Cheung Hong, 102a Praya West, and landed it on the 1st May instant.
