Sir,

A. M. Consulate, Canton, November 25th, 1876

With reference to the seizure of a boat with opium at Cape d'Aguilar, I have the honor to state that the Viceroy thinks that if he could be informed how the opium was packed, whether or not in chests, and, if so, what were the marks thereon, and whether the balls themselves had any marks by which they could be identified,

Hon: J. Gardiner Austin, CMG.

Colonial Secretary, H.E.
