This summer Mudame Chiang Kai- ! shek consulted Mr. Rewi Alley, Technical Adviser of the Chinese In- dustrini Co-operatives, as to whether! It would be practicable to use the children in starling new woollen In- dustries in Eastern Tibet. As a result of recent investigation tour by Mr. Alley, a depot of the In- dustrial Co-operatives has already been started and ambitious plans ave afoot to bring out large groups of partially trained orphans to set up spindles and looms and help in the training of the local young people. When they are proficient in spinning Cu- and weaving, the Industrial operatives will start them in pro- ductive units as the first step in its plans to make Western Szechuan one, of the noted wool-manufacturing centres of the world..
SKELETON FOUND Gruesome Discovery On Ching-I Island
The skeleton of an adult was found on the shores of Ching-1 Island on Sunday by Mr. H. Lanepart, It has not been possible to de- termine the nationality of the skeleton, which normally would be possible by experts, as the skull Ist missing.
During September the Police did not receive $1 report of serious erlines or murders from the few in- habitants of the Island and it is presumed the skeleton was washed! ashore. Investigations, however, are being made,
