I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No. 417 of the 2nd Instant with its enclosure, with reference to a violation of British Territory by Chinese officials and the seizure of a Junk in British waters if not on British Territory. In reply to inform you that I have laid the matter before His Excellency The Viceroy.
