New Fashion Timetable

THE big surprise of the Collections this season is the number and diversity of ideas presented, the colour and grandour, the ex- quisite beauty of the work put Into the clothes-rich ombrol- dories, novel jewellery-the intricacy of cut and draping.

hought of crises; to have been im- pressed by the vialt of our Guards for the famous "Fourteenth" cele- brations: and to have delved not only into history but also into the costumes of all nations for laspira- lion.
At one collection a number of in- fluences from peasant costumes of Southern and Eastern Europe, lines from Perslo and Egypt, were scen and at least half a dozen pointers from fashions in England during the last century or 50.

IN sumining up, however, 1 think the following list gives the really important lines that are likely to be cêpled in England and to reach the bly stores and dress houses during the next month or two.

Trials Of A Golf Widow
TOW that the golf season is here
again, I must once more join the; ranks of golf widows. Of course, I have only myself to thank for this state of affairs, for I should have put my foot down drmly years ago when golf dret attracted my husband's attention
All through the summer, as far as my husband is concerned, the sole topic of conversation will be golf. Each night he wit recount every shot played in his round-he won't concede the shortest putt.
The evening meal is often some- thing in the nature of a burnt offer- for, owing to the inveterate gossips at the 19th hole. Even during the meal my husband will spring up to try some special type of swing he has suddenly thought about.
A slice or a pull costs n. black gloom over the household. I know when his score is bad by the vicious way he bangs the garden gate. Even the dog has developed a sixth sente on these occasions, and omits his.usual, vociferous welcome.
From now to the end of the golang season my husband will take no in** terest in the garden. I shall have to cut the grass and keep the borders. If I should suggest a walk, he is far too tired' after his round. Still, that does not prevent him from practising putting on the lounge carpet, where

There different methods for re- moving various kinds of stains from linen, but one rule remains constant for all stains. 'Act at once: don't leave the stain on the article for o moment longer than is necessary.

Meat juice and gravy, stains are best removed by washing first in cold water and then in soap and water. To remove coffee stains, hold the linen smoothly and tightly over 8 bowl and pour boiling water through it from height, Coalinue this treatment until the slain has dis- appeared.
Wine stains should be at once covered with salt and left for some hours before washing in lukewarm. "Water," This method will also re- move peach stains, but other fruit) stains should be soaked in milk for an hour or two and then treated, with boiling water in the same way as coffee stalus.
