Chopped Dollars
are not
current
and legal tender.
Sections 4, 6, 16, 17, 26, 27 of the
Coinage Ordinance No. 10 of 1865 are
specially proclaimed not to be law
by a proclamation of the 20th of October 1865 published in the Gazette of 21st October of same year. These sections specially
refer to stamping, defacing &c.; and it is proclaimed they are not in force, clearly showing that the old usage of chopping
was not to be interfered with.
