As a result of Japanese operations near the Brilish border at Shun- chun and Shataukok there has been of a sudden jump in the number refugees accommodated in the Gov- ernment camps in Hongkong and New Territories. Whereas on August 12 the total number of refugees and destitutes accommodated was 8,900, the number was 10,380 on August 19,| an increase of 1,414.
