HEAVY sentences were meied out to three privates in the Royal Scots when they appeared before Mr. T. J. Houston at the Central Magistracy charged in connection with driving and damaging a car, the property of Mr. B. J. Atkins of Cable and Wireless, Ltd.

Plc. Malihew Andrews was eluarged with driving a car without a licence. and without the owner's permission, and with maliciously damaging the car.

Ples. George Angus and Malcolm Irving were charged on the last two counts only.

They pleaded guilty, telling the raagistrate that they were drunk at the time. However, Krafße-Sergeant Appleton said that when he saw them immediately after their arrest, they were not drunk,
