Registrar General's Office, Victoria, Hong-Kong, 20th March 1877.
Sir,
I observe in the Gazettes of Saturday last that Messrs Barff and Madar have been appointed Government valuators for the present year.
This Notification takes me somewhat by surprise. I have therefore the honour to request that you will bring to the notice of His Excellency the Administrator that I was gazetted one of the Valuators in 1872 as appears by the Government Gazette No 8. Tomocky,
Acting Registrar General.
