I trust that advantage might be taken of the Police remittances which Your Lordship has been asked to effect under the supervision of Mr. Deane, the Captain Superintendent of Police, to request that gentleman to select an officer for the Gaol at the same time.

I have replied to W. Acestin.
Dispatch No. 76 of the 11th of April applying requesting that the respectable men be selected as Turnkeys at salaries of £100 a year each with Uniform and Quarters.
I am uncertain whether these Turnkeys would be on the same footing as the 12
