A WELL-INFORM- ED source here states that Danzig is making military preparations to itself defend

in the event of hostilities "until German troops reinforce us from East Prussia."

A thousand youths will be called up for compulsory police service, while a decree has been issued saying that all Danzig citizens will be required to perform work important to the State.

This decree has not yet been enforced, but a Nazi source sald "the city wanted the law on its books in case it became neces- sary, to speed up defence pre- parations."
