In the presence of a large number of mourners, including many of his former colleagues of the Shang- hai Municipal Police, the late Mr. Richard Maurice Tinkler D.C.M., was laid to rest in the Hungino Cemetery Shanghai recently when the last rites were conducted by Dean A. C. S. Trivett. - The deceased succumbed to injuries received during a fracas with Japanese sentries in Pootung. Upper photo shows Denn Trivett reading the burial service at the graveside. Lower photo shows the hearse and corlege passing through the cemetery, followed by nall-bearers and other mourners.

Landing without any ceremony at the Customs Jetty Shanghal recently, Sir Archibald Clark Kerr, K.C.31.G., II. M. Ambassador to China, proceeded to his residence in Shanghai at the con- clusion of a prolonged visit to Chungking, in which city he has been residing during the recent heavy" Japanese air rald. Sir Archibald, on his way to Shanghai, visited Amoy in connection with the dis- pule over the Kalangsu Municipal Counell. He travelled to Shanghal on H.ML6.
